What can treatment help with?

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine is suitable for a variety of acute and chronic conditions.  Reiki is powerful healing for stress reduction and deep relaxation.  Many patients also choose to have treatment as a preventative measure to maintain good health and increase their sense of well-being.

What happens at the first appointment?

On a first appointment, Diana will collect information pertaining to your main complaint, general health, lifestyle, and well being both physically and emotionally.  This will include asking questions about your symptoms, your medical history, and about more general things such as your sleep patterns, digestion, appetite, and your energy levels.  She will also take your pulse and look at your tongue which provide valuable information on any imbalances present.  The first appointment for acupuncture or traditional Chinese medicine includes a treatment where 2 points are needled on the hand and this effectively “opens the canvas” stabilising the energy for a course of treatment to begin.  For first appointment Reiki treatments the chakras are checked & balanced during the initial consultation.  Diana will then provide an individually personalised treatment plan for you and recommend a course of treatment which may include a single application or combination of: acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine techniques, reiki, lifestyle changes, and dietary advice.

How long will it take?

First appointments 90 minutes. Subsequent appointments 60 minutes.

How many sessions are needed?

Some patients feel an immediate difference, others may take longer, and every case is different. The number of treatments required will depend on the condition and the patient’s response to treatment.  A course of 4 to 6 weekly treatments is normal and Diana would expect to see improvement within this time if the patient is responding to treatment.  General health and well- being maintenance treatments are spread out over longer periods of time every 6 to 8 weeks.

Is there anything I need to do on day of treatment?

It is advisable to avoid alcohol or strenuous exercise prior to and post treatment on the day.  Please also ensure that you have eaten something within the 2 to 3 hours before treatment and do not have an empty stomach.  Most patients feel relaxed and calm after treatment and it is good to hydrate afterwards by drinking some water or herbal tea.  Feeling hungry after treatment is not uncommon so having a snack handy can also be helpful.  After energetic treatment the body requires some time to recalibrate so having an opportunity to rest and relax after the session can be beneficial.

It is important to note that treatment is not a substitute medicine for a recognised condition already being treated by a GP, however, it can support and does work alongside it.
